Itinerary:
Located north of Atlanta in Cumming, Georgia, Sawnee Mountain Preserve provides visitors with 963 acres of scenic passive space, hiking trails and an interactive Visitor Center. The Visitor Center serves as the administrative home for the Outdoor Division of Forsyth County Parks and Recreation. There are two visitor's centers, please meet at the Spot Road one.

Visitor Center hours: M-F 8:30 AM-5:00 PM
Preserve hours: S-S 8:00 AM-Dark

We will meet in the Sawnee Mountain Preserve Spot Road parking lot. Look for the bronze Native American statue out front.  This will be a fast paced fitness hike and we'll hike to the top of the mountain twice (stopping at top once). From the visitor's center, we'll start on the Laurel Trail then take the upper (more difficult part) Indian Seats trail to the top. We'll fly by the top, staying on the Indian Seats trail and complete the loop. We'll go back up the mountain the same way except this time we'll pause at the "Indian Seats" and observation deck before we completing the loop and connecting back up with the Laurel Trail and end up back at the cars.  Total hike should be right around 7 miles. I may have overshot the completion time of noon, it will likely be sooner.

This is a fast paced fitness hike. We may even break out in to some light running in spots (totally up to you). It is not a hike recommended for beginners. I have a Sawnee Mountain hike posted for Saturday (the 21st) that is a slower pace and less mileage.

Dogs are not allowed at this park.

We are meeting at the Spot Road location: Do not go to the Bettis Tribble Gap location.
