Itinerary:
Joyce and Lauren are back at it again. We're doing five hikes in one day in celebration of Cinco de Mayo. We'd love for you to join us for as many as you would like. They will be all around the Roswell area. We plan on having lunch at Tijuana Joes on Roswell Rd between hikes 3 and 4 (around 2:00PM). We're hoping to miss the lunch crowd and beat the dinner crowd. Please be flexible if we get there and it's swamped - we'll figure out a game plan if Tijuana Joes isn't going to work.
TIJUANA JOE´S - Sandy Springs
7870 Roswell Road, Sandy Springs, GA 30350

Hike Cuatro: Island Ford

This will be a fairly brisk hike with a chance to pause periodically to regroup and catch our breath.  The terrain is hilly with some short, steep ascents, so it provides a good workout. The views of the river and Blue Sluice Lake are always beautiful and never fail to lift spirits.

We will be near the shoreline throughout most of the hike, though we might add a cross-trail or two to take advantage of the ascents they provide.

This is a unit of the CNRA, so a $3 parking fee is required (if you don't have an annual pass). Be sure to bring the correct amount in cash and arrive in time to purchase a day permit. All of the NCRA parks have a parking fee of $3 cash, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual pass ($25).

Please call one of the trip leaders if you are running late. We won't wait, so you'll have to catch up with the group if you do arrive late.

We'll allow up to three dogs on this hike. Please cooperate with the posted rules. AOC is very visible and it is important we portray a good image. Off leash dogs have been known to chase animals, injure animals and stir up yellow jackets. Additionally, some hikers are afraid of dogs. A leashed dog allows the owner to better control it and makes the hike more comfortable for all involved. Dogs must be on leash at all times, no exceptions.

Required Items to Bring:
water, gatorade or whatever you like to keep hydrated (important)
good hiking shoes
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
snacks to fuel yourself
hiking poles if you dig 'em
sunscreen/bug spray according to the season and weather
appropriate clothing

How to Get There:
Event Directions:
Gold Branch is off of Lower Roswell Road, between Johnson Ferry Road and Wileo Road.  The sign is very easy to miss, because it's between some exclusive residential areas.  If you're coming from Johnson Ferry Road, it's on the right, about 2 miles from Johnson Ferry.  If you're coming from Atlanta Road (Roswell Road) in Sandy Springs, turn left at Azalea Drive, turn left at Willeo, and drive till it dead ends at Lower Roswell.  Turn left and go about 2 miles toward Johnson Ferry Road.  The unit on the left, but is easy to miss as it's nestled among residential areas.
