Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:
The Jake Mountain and Bull Mountain trail system is located near Dahlonega, in the Blue Ridge District of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest.  The trail system provides approximately 36 miles of interconnecting mixed use trails.  Various guides and internet postings describe the trails as scenic, with a typical variety of north Georgia features such as hardwood forests and streams.  We will focus on the Bull Mountain loop.

We will approach this hike with a sense of adventure.  None of your trip leaders has hiked this area, and there is only limited trail information available.  Our best estimate is that the hike is approximately 11.5 miles, but even the forest service concedes its map may be inaccurate.  Elevation is not specified in the published material, but I anticipate that it will be moderate.

Because the hike is closer than many, we should be back into town in the late afternoon or early evening.  After returning to the carpool location, those who are interested can have dinner.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $48.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:
Money Back Guarantee if not fully satisfied.

Because this is an exploratory hike, you should be in sufficient physical condition to hike extra mileage if we miss a turn or make a mistake.  Also, our return time to Atlanta could be altered if the hike turns out to be longer or shorter than expected.
