Itinerary:

If I post it, will they come?

This area is a first for the AOC!  I'm really excited to explore Sandy Creek Nature Center with you.  I've hiked several trails but have not yet done the Cook's Trail, which will comprise 8 of our 10 miles of hiking.  The trail starts at the nature center and ends 4.1 miles later at Sandy Creek Park.   We'll pause for lunch/snacks at the park and then retrace our route back to the nature center.  From there, we'll hike about a mile to an old log cabin - - an interesting historic relic.  Then we'll make our way back to the parking lot via the Pine Ridge Trail.  The area is absolutely gorgeous!

I'm sure that once this area is discovered, it will become a favorite for the AOC.  Don't you just LOVE finding new areas to hike?

This is a D4 mainly for the distance.  Much of the area is relatively flat but there are some upgrades and descents that will provide a nice heart-elevation - - but nothing terribly steep.  Plus, the trails are easy on the feet - - not much in the way of rocks or roots.  It is NOT a hike for beginners; however,  it's would certainly be a nice introduction to a longer hike for those who have not yet done this distance.
