Itinerary:

We'll meet at 9:45 am at the Jones Bridge parking lot at the end of the park road and start our hike promptly at 10:00 am. We'll hike along the river and up the hill into the woods. We'll go by the pond and the field behind the Education Center.

We'll hike at a BRISK PACE and cover at least 4 miles in 90 minutes. We'll hike in drizzle/light rain but NOT in heavy rain or thunderstorms.

OPTIONAL FLOAT AFTER HIKE:
If you want to float the Hooch (from Medlock Bridge to Jones Bridge - about 4 hours) with us after the hike, bring an inflatable boat or tube, a canoe or kayak, your own inflator, a PDF (life jackets are mandatory), a swimsuit, a change of clothes, a towel, lunch, beverages (no glass is allowed on the river), and a small or soft-sided cooler. Other suggested items to bring: aqua shoes/Keens, a waterproof bag and camera, sunscreen, and insect replellent. We will need some vehicles to shuttle people and boats between the 2 parks. Medlock Bridge also requires a $3 parking pass or a CRNRA annual park pass, but the one from Jones Bridge will work for both locations. We'll float weather permitting (NO RAIN).


Required Items to Bring:

$3 for parking fee or CRNRA annual parking pass

Appropriate clothing for the weather

Appropiate hiking shoes (the trail can be rocky and uneven)

Plenty of fluid for adequate hydration

Chattahoochee River National Receration Area - Jones Bridge Park - 9101 Barnwell Road, Johns Creek, GA, 30022

From GA 400, take exit 7a, and head East 4.1 miles through the intersection of Holcomb Bridge and Nesbitt Ferry Road to the junction of Barnwell Road. Turn left on Barnwell Rd, and travel approx 2 miles to Jones Bridge Branch which will be on the right. Turn in and go a little over 1/2 mile to large parking lot at end of road.

Notes:

When you sign up, let your Trip Leaders know if you will be joining them for the OPTIONAL FLOAT portion of this event so they can plan accordingly. Please be prepared to use your car for the Medlock Bridge - Jones Bridge shuttle.
