Itinerary:

We're going to take it easy on this hike and just enjoy a moderately paced trek through the Sope Creek area, hiking along the shaded trails in the area.   It will be a good hike for relative beginners who have hiked enough to go 4 miles through some hilly areas.

The Sope Creek parking lot is off of Paper Mill Road, just a little past the bridge if you're coming from Johnson Ferry Road.  If you're coming from I-75, it's less than a mile past Sope Creek Elementary School. It is a more secluded entrance to the Cochran Shoals area of the Chattahoochee NRA. We will hike about four miles of the trails in the park including sections along the creek to see the ruins of an old paper mill, a short stop at Sibley Pond, and on various trails that loop through the woods.

Please remember to bring $3 cash for the National Park Service parking fee, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual pass.

We'll limit the number of dogs on this hike to 3, so if you see three dogs already registered, please do not bring yours. If you do bring your dog, it should be able to keep up with the group and interact well with other dogs and people. The Chattahoochee NRA requires that owners keep their dogs on a leash and clean up after their pets on the trails.
