Itinerary:

Join us for an evening hike to celebrate the Summer Solstice - the day on which the sun sets at its northernmost point on the horizon. This is also the longest day of the year, with sunset at 8:50 p.m.

We will meet in front of the Confederate Hall
restrooms at 7:45 for introductions before we head to the top to enjoy the view and the sunset. On the ascent, we will hike at a moderate pace on a side trail, rather than on the heavily traveled walk-up trail.  We will gain about 650 feet of elevation in just over one mile.

The optional CHEROKEE TRAIL HIKE will start from the CONFEDERATE HALL restrooms AT 5:30 PM. PLEASE ARRIVE 5 MINUTES EARLY for check in and introductions.  We will hike at a fairly quick pace so that we can meet those folks who will be joining us for the SOLSTICE SUNSET portion of the hike.

PLEASE NOTE IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF YOUR REGISTRATION IF YOU ARE JOINING THE 5:30 CHEROKEE TRAIL PORTION OF THE HIKE.

The weather forecast for Wednesday evening is partly sunny with a high of 85 degrees. We will be walking down after sunset, so please bring a small LED flashlight or headlamp.

Free parking is available at MARTA PARK n RIDE parking lot. From there, it is less than a half mile walk to the west gate park entrance near our meeting spot.

Please take the time to look at the park map and your parking options in order to be on time.
