Itinerary:

This is going to be a moderately paced hike for those wanting an easier event than the more brisk hikes scheduled.  However, we will be crossing some rocks and cliffs by the river for about 1/4 mile, adding a degree of difficulty to an otherwise easy event.  Because of this section of steep climbs, I'm making this a D3 event.

Sope Creek is a secluded entrance to the Cochran Shoals area of the Chattahoochee NRA, nestled among subdivisions on Paper Mill Road in Marietta. We will hike about 4-5 miles of trails through the woods, taking in the ruins and the pond along the way.  We might even be lucky enough to catch site of the giant goldfish that has been spotted in the pond.  Some parts of the trail have poison ivy along the sides, so wear long pants if you're susceptible to breaking out.

Please remember to bring $3 cash for the National Park Service parking fee, unless you have a Chattahoochee NRA annual pass.

We will allow up to 3 dogs on this hike. If three dogs are already registered, please do not add yours. If you bring your dog, it should be able to keep up with the group and interact well with other dogs and people. The Chattahoochee NRA requires that owners keep their dogs on a leash and clean up after their pets on the trails.
