Itinerary:

Come hike around Lake Lanier's largest island. We'll hike the Blue Ridge Extreme Trail which is right at 6.3 miles. This is a brand new trail and it's pretty easy to follow. There is one spot around the campgrounds where it gets a little bit tricky but we won't get lost. This is why I ask you to bring your "sense of adventure" when coming out here. The trail is gorgeous and runs right along the shoreline of the lake for the majority of the hike.  This is not a hike for beginners but it is not a difficult D3 either. There is not a lot of elevation gain so just make sure you can handle the distance.

I heard from a very reputable source that bald eagles have been spotted from this trail.

We will hike the Blue Ridge Extreme Trail. Description from the website:

Blue Ridge Extreme

Hike along the edge of Blue Ridge Island on a trail forged by deer migrations and natural wildlife. This six mile pathway of rugged terrain winds in and out of secluded coves and peninsulas of the Resort's largest island.

There is a $10 per car fee to enter the Islands. We will meet at Publix close by (see below) and take a few vehicles on to the Island. Please bring $4 per person to put towards the entry fee.  The drivers do not pay anything towards the entry costs, only the passengers - this is in lieu of them driving the 10 or so miles round trip from Publix to the Island and collecting carpool money. I'll use the pooled funds to get the parking passes to get us on the Island. Anything left over I will donate to AOC.

**There is no meet at event option**

Carpool leaves at 8:00AM sharp. Please arrive a few minutes early to check in.
