Moderate - 7.8 Miles

We will walk the loop counterclockwise. This is the longest loop in the Pine Mountain trail, and it is named after the big poplar located close to the ten mile marker. It crosses several streams, features several rock formations and the vegetation, a mixture of pines and hardwoods, is quite lush. Expected hiking time: 3.5 to 4 hours, including rest stops.

Optional: After the hike we will have a picnic lunch.

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Plenty of water, good hiking shoes, and bug repellent. Dont forget to bring your picnic lunch.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Callaway Gardens, GA. 9:30 a.m. at the Fox Den Cove parking area off GA 190. Proceed South on Interstate 85 until Interstate 185. Continue south on Interstate 185 until Exit 34/GA 18.
At the top of the ramp turn left (East) on GA 18. After about 6.7 miles you will see an entrance to Callaway Gardens on your right. At that point, GA 18 transitions into GA 354. Continue straight on GA 354 about four miles (crossing US 27 in the process), until you reach GA 190 at a stone bridge. Turn left on GA 190 and proceed a short distance to the Fox Den Cove parking area at mile 6.
