Moderate – Strenuous 10.5 Miles

This was one of the first ‘pocket wildernesses set aside in Tennessee by the conservation minded Bowater lumber company; setting aside small parcels of land with beautiful scenery for use by the public for hiking and outdoor recreation. This small wilderness area has a few caves, several bridges; including a triple steel bridge that crosses beautiful cascading Richland Creek to one of the two trails we will be hiking on. One trail peels off to climb to Laurel Falls, falling through the limestone top of the plateau, which we will climb up to and to the plateau top, through a narrow rock passage. Once done enjoying the scenic views from the top, we will make our way down to the Snow Falls trail, which climbs up the gorge on the opposite side to Buzzard Point and Snow Falls in a different direction. The wildflower display this time of year is stunning besides the widely varied scenic attractions here.
