Moderate NOTE: Prior rafting experience mandatory no exceptions river guide requirement! This is a class III to IV+ run with three sections. This river opened in 2005 to kayakers and rafters after 77 years of diverted water. The river has only 15 release dates this year and rafting the Cheoah Labor Day Weekend will be a wonderful way to spend the holiday weekend. Plans are to drive to North Carolina Friday afternoon or early evening, camp or hotel/lodge for the evening and then depart early Saturday morning on the tight and twisty roads to the put-in location. We will have a guided raft, four people per raft and a lunch at the midpoint of the trip. Also included is the return to our automobile at the conclusion of the run. More details to come in the next week or two (I will have information at the April Social Tuesday night). Due to the travel distance I do not plan to return to Atlanta the day of the rafting. My thoughts are to camp or backpack nearby a few nights and return to ATL on Labor Day. Right now, my main concern is securing one raft, then if need be, a second and possibly a third. | |||||||

If you sign-up and cannot attend, please e-mail the trip leader, so others that may be on a waiting list may attend. Important information for paid events in which payment is managed through the AOC: - Payment must be received by the payment due date and prior to participation in the event. - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid. - Third-party vendors often require damage deposits. Each registrant agrees to be liable for and required to reimburse the Atlanta Outdoor Club for any withheld deposits due to the actions of or damages caused by that registrant. - No partial payments.
