Itinerary:

DuPont State Forest is North Carolina’s newest State Forest and is located southeast of Brevard in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  This 10,400 acre state forest offers nearly 100 miles of of recreational trails, traveling to one of the highest densities of waterfalls in the southeast, pristine lakes, rock outcroppings, and other attractions.

This hike will be approximately 8 miles long with only about 1,300 feet of ascent.  The trails are quite scenic, but the highlight of this hike will be Bridal Veil Falls where scenes from the movies The Last Of The Mohicans and  The Hunger Games were filmed.

We will visit Corn Mill Shoals, Bridal Veil Falls, Lake Julia, and Reasonever Creek.  Bridal Veil Falls will be approximately the half-way point of the hike and where we will have lunch, spend some time exploring the area around the falls, going behind the falls, and if you choose – getting wet. Believe me, you won’t want to rush through this part of the hike.

Disclosure:  Your TLs, who enjoy exploring new places (to them, anyway) have hiked many of these trails, however, there is part of this route which they have not.  Therefore, please have a sense of adventure and be in sufficient physical condition to hike extra mileage if we miss a turn somewhere.  It is our understanding that the trails are well-marked, and we will have maps and GPS in hand.
