Registration is Closed It maybe Mother’s Day but take your mother to dinner instead of lunch. If she is adventuresome, take her canoeing. The AOC is once again canoeing down the Chestatee River with Appalachian Outfitters. This trip has traditionally been one of our most popular and is an excellent trip for first time canoers. We will be canoeing about 6 miles which should take approximately 2 1/2 hours. Highlights include remote and beautiful scenery and wildlife such as wood duck, great blue heron, beaver, deer, otter, osprey, turtles and turtles! There is a nice beach about halfway through were we will stop for a snack and have a chance to play in the water. We will be going over some moderate class one rapids but nothing too severe. At the end of trip, the outfitter will pick us and our craft up and bus us back to where we started. First time canoers should be aware that we will not have time for extensive instruction prior starting our trip down the Chestatee. After a few minutes of familiarizing themselves with their canoe or kayak we will start down the river. There is the possibility that your craft will tip over so the ability to swim is a must. If you are unsure about your suitability for this trip please e-mail the trip leaders before signing up. After the trip may stop for an optional late lunch/early dinner. Please do not call organizer until day of event

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
