Itinerary:

Vickery Creek is a beautiful section of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. We will hike around 5 miles of these trails at a moderate to fast pace including visiting the old dam on Big Creek.

We will keep a brisk pace for this hike, so it's not one for beginners.  However, if you're in reasonable shape and have done several D2's comfortably, it should be one you can handle.  We won't leave anyone behind!  If we need to take a few rest/water breaks, we will.

NOTE:  We will be meeting at the Waller Extension area off of Oxbo Road - - and NOT at the oft-used CNRA entrance off Riverside Rd.  Here are directions to our parking lot (copied from a write-up of Richard Zalik's):

Coming from downtown Atlanta drive north on GA 400 until Exit 6 (Northridge Road). Proceed West and cross the bridge over GA 400. After about 0.3 miles Northridge dead ends on Roswell Rd. Turn right and drive 1.5 miles to the Chattahoochee River. After crossing the river you will be on Atlanta Rd. Continue 1.3 miles on Atlanta Rd. and take a right on Oxbo Dr (NOTE:The street sign for Oxbo Dr. is not very visible from Atlanta St. There is a gas station at the corner. You must turn right before the station). After 0.6 miles you will reach Dobbs Road (there will be a sign on your left pointing to Waller Park Extension) turn left on Dobbs. After 0.3 miles you will see the parking lot on your right. Try to park in the spots designated for trail parking.

Three people may bring dogs on this event.  If you already see three people on the list with dogs, please do not add yours. Dogs should be kept on leash at all times.

Please call trip leader if you are running late. Heels at 10 AM, so if you arrive at 10:01, you'll see our heels leaving the parking area!
