Itinerary:

Let's take it up a notch at Leita Thompson Park. Instead of the usual 3 mile trail, we'll double the distance and speed it up a little, giving us a nice D3 workout hike. The trail is one big loop, so we'll take it around in one direction and then reverse it.

The Leita Thompson Memorial Park (in Roswell) offers a very pretty trail. It's made of soft, small gravel and plenty wide to walk side by side. It's very wooded and clean and has a few nice little hills.

There are no bathrooms, but there are three sets of porta potties throughout the park. And - - of course - - there are plenty of trees.

Heels up at 10:30 sharp, so please arrive a few minutes early, in case you have to park your car in the overflow lot about 1/8 mile from the pavilion lot.

This is a dog-friendly park, with many dogs on the trail. You are welcome to bring your dog as long as you keep it on leash during the hike and clean up any messes that it makes. There is a fenced in "off leash" area if you'd like for your dog to be able to run free and play with other dogs after the hike.

Insect spray is helpful.

The trails are shaded, but there is a large meadow we cross that offers full sun. Sunscreen is adviseable if you are concerned about getting full sun without protection for 10-15 minutes.

It's best to use maps.google.com and map directions from your destination. You can go to maps.google.com and enter the bold text below in to the search bar. If you chose Satelite View, you can see a birdseye view of the parking lot.

There is a green roofed pavillion very close to Woodstock Rd. You can see it easily from the road and it says "Leita Thompson Pavillion." There is a road on the East side of that and it leads directly to the parking lot.

You may want to (or need to) park in the overflow parking lot that can be accessed from the main lot if the main lot is full. It's only 1/8 of a mile down a shaded road.
