Itinerary:

Are you feeling adventurous? If so, then why not join me for a very diverse 13-mile day hike in the beautiful Cohutta Wilderness. Yes, 13 miles! .... and yes, in one day. It is a challenging hike when you factor in the distance and river crossings, but as most of ya'll know or will find out soon, I'm always up for a challenge....

Alright, so our advenuture begins at Dally Gap. We'll hike in on a former Forest Service Road known as Hemp Top Trail. At the 2.3 mile section of the Hemp Top trail, we'll turn off to the left onto Penitenitiary Branch trail, which is an 3.6 mile interior trail of the Cohuttas. Penitentiary Branch will slowly descend to Jacks River where we can break for lunch before we start crossing Jacks River. Our lunch spot (at 5.9 miles) is where the first of eighteen river crossings will begin. After lunch, we'll follow the Jacks River Trail upstream crossing the river 18 times over an almost 5 mile stretch of trail......Woohoo! Jacks river is a little deeper than the Conasauga River, but most of the river crossings won't ever get above the knee unless we get some much needed rain in the next week or so. Ok, so the last tlittle over wo miles will take us away from Jacks river through a beautiful hardwood forest and back to the traihead where are vehicles will be where we left them at Dally's Gap. (There is no car shuttling required on this hike.)

PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS NOT A BEGINNER HIKE
