Itinerary:
from easy as pie beach bathing, to kayaking, your option!

Come and join us for a laid back weekend at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Recreation Area in Niceville, FL. Located on the Choctawhatchee Bay, the camping and picnic areas (okay, not ALL the camping areas ) overlook the bay.

This is definitely a weekend to play and relax on the beach. Inside the park, there is fishing, hiking trails, and access to Puddin Lake and the bay for swimming. If you have a boat.there is a boat ramp available in the park. (Puddin Lake is only for non-motorized craft.)

Breakfast will be available Saturday, Sunday, and Monday am. Lunches provided Saturday, Sunday. We are grilling hamburgers Friday night upon arrival. We will have a .Memorial Day Feast. on Sunday. (Saturday night we will check out a local eatery after a full day of sun and fun!)

Fishing:
Saltwater fish may be caught in Rocky Bayou. Freshwater fishing is available where Rocky Creek flows into the bay. (Salt and freshwater fishing licenses are required in Florida. Go to http://floridafisheries.com/license.html for more info and to buy a license on-line.)

Hiking:
Three trail loops are designated within the park. A self-guided booklet for the Sand Pine Trail interprets the natural values of the sandpine forest. The Rocky Bayou and Red Cedar nature trails meander through other prominent plant communities. Ranger-guided walks and campfire programs are offered seasonally..

Kayaking:
Kayaks are available for rental in several nearby locations ranging in price from $20 a day to $40. (The $40 includes delivery and pick up).

Beaches:
If you desire more ocean, than bay, Henderson Beach is roughly 5 miles away. ($2 entry fee) We are also only about 15 minutes away from Destin. for more beach play areas!
