Itinerary:

Sweetwater is a wonderful getaway, only minutes from the hustle and bustle of Atlanta. The trails at Sweetwater are wonderfully maintained, well isolated and involve many forms of terrain.

Let's spend a few hours and do a little over a 7 mile hike at Sweetwater Creek State Park! The pace will be moderate, and we will enjoy a few breaks at some points of interest at the park.

If the Welcome Center is open we will be treated to a break before the final 1/3 of the trip. In the Welcome Center hikers may cool off in the air-conditioning while reading about the history surrounding the park. Also, this is a great point to fill up with a supply of cold drinking water.

Our hike will remain on the trail system. We will meet at the carpool location only and take two or three appropriate vehicles (preferably with high clearance like a Jeep or SUV) to a gravel-road trailhead that is south of the well known portion of the State Park. Once at the parking area, we will follow the access trail roughly a mile to the State Park trails and back out along the same access trail.

Please e-mail me (link above) if you have a high clearance (SUV, van, truck, or AWD) vehicle and are willing to drive with 4 + adults. One member spot is being reserved, as a first contact (via email) first serve basis, to allow group transportation. Please contact me if you can drive!!!

Required Items to Bring:

• Water 1 liter
• Snacks (fruit, nuts, energy bar)
• Appropriate Clothing and Shoes (hiking boots are HIGHLY suggested but not required)
Coat and water proof hiking boots are required if we are lucky enough for snow to be in the forcast.
If there is snow our driving situation will change and we will hike the gravel road.

Recommended Items to Bring:
