Itinerary:
Moderate (should be familiar with canoe paddling)

Here is a unique overnight trip for the adventurers! How about spending a night on the Chestatee River! We’ll arrive at the Outpost at 2:30 pm on Saturday, get on the river at 3:00 pm and we will paddle down to the Big Bend beach-camping area where we will stay overnight. If you plan on using a kayak, make sure someone in a canoe does not mind carrying your camp supplies in their canoe. It would be a good idea to eat your lunch prior to arrival and have dinner at the camping area. You will bring your own food, snacks, and drinks. It will take us about an hour to an hour and a half to get to the beach-camping area. Once we are there, we will set up our tents, a campfire in the evening, and basically just enjoy the wildlife and each others company. There is a nice shallow water area for us to cool off in, too! Then we will be picked up by noon the following day at the Hwy. 400 take out. Let the trip leader know if you plan on bringing your own kayak. There are no bathroom facilities, so be prepared to rough it a bit.

This is a pack it in, pack it out type of trip. Whatever you bring with you, like soon-to-be-trash, you will have to carry it out. Please bring camping supplies as if it is a backpacking trip. Since we will be traveling by water to the campsite, it is suggested to bring small tents and sleeping bags, etc.

I’d like to note that there will not be any instructions on paddling, but only to familiarize us with paddling. Please email the trip leader with any questions.
