Itinerary:

This Saturday is the last day we'll see sunsets after 6:00pm for the year - time falls back an hour on Sunday -, and the weather will be in the low 70's. So, why not join us for a casual, social, and fun hike to the top of Stone Mountain!  What better way to end a weekend and witness the final long day of the year than with your AOC friends!

We will be hiking the Walk-Up Trail going to the top of Stone Mountain fom the Confederate Hall parking lot and back.  The round trip is about two and half miles.

This is a casual and social hike up the mountain, so you can choose your own pace - there is no rush.  At the top of the mountain, we will hang out for awhile, socialize, chat, take pics, and enjoy the scenic view from the top.

On the way down, we will stop and watch the sunset from our usual vantage point.  On some past hikes, Guitar Tony has seranaded us while the red dusk slowly slipped below the downtown horizon. Will that happen again?  I don't know, but it might.

THE HIKE WILL START FROM THE CONFEDERATE HALL PARKING LOT NEAR THE BATHROOMS AT 6:00 PM.

Free parking is available at Stone Mountain Village (Please note: The MARTA lot is currently closed. Use directions below only as a guide into Stone Mountain Village and look for parking elsewhere in the Village - Plenty closer to the train tracks on Main Street). It is less than a half mile walk to the park and the entrance is near our meeting area. Please take the time to look at the park map and parking options in order to be on time!
