Itinerary:
We will be meeting BEFORE the social out on the patio.

Have you thought about what it would be like to be in the remote wilderness , maybe next to a peaceful river or on top of a 6,000' + mtn with no roads or tourists around? Do you want to truly be in the GREAT OUTDOORS? Come check out HOW !

This Clinic is for people NEW to backpacking as well as those that have experience and are looking for some tips. I will be going over backpacking basics & answering questions. For those new to backpacking I will go over what pieces of gear you need to start and make recomendations. I will also point out the ones you don't need right away. I will also be covering "Fast-Packing" This is another term used for lightweight backpacking, the lighter you are the faster you will travel over long distances. .

If you are already a backpacker PLEASE bring all your gear. That means load your backpack with everything you normally carry except FOOD & WATER, you still need to pack your clothes. This will give you what is called your "BASE PACK WEIGHT". Mine is 20-21 lbs. including camp saw, water filter, stove, fuel, etc.

I will have a scale there to weigh individual pieces of gear so that you can come up with a total for your pack but more importantly know which pieces are the ones you need to work on replacing with lighter ones. You will be VERY surprised by how cutting a few ounces here and there really do add up to weight you can save in your pack or better yet replace with BEER.

Required Items to Bring:
People who have NEVER Backpakced: Pen & Paper.

People who HAVE Backpacked: A list of all your gear with room after each peice so you can write down the weight of each peice.
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
Your Backpacking Gear if you would like help with weighing peices.

Notes:
I will be providing a few handouts for those new to backpacking to help with gear selectionas well as tips for those already backpacking on how to save weight..

There will be time to share ideas from everyone as well.
