Itinerary:

Come join us again in the beautiful Smoky Mountains for a weekend of fun in the snow at Cataloochee Ski Area in Maggie Valley, NC.  Skiers and snowboarders of all ability levels will find plenty of trails to suit their style in 50 acres of skiable terrain.

 

While at the ski area, our group will have an assigned area in the group building to hang out, meet up, store your stuff, and eat lunch together.  You can bring a lunch with you or purchase it from the cafeteria in the lodge.  For those wanting lessons, free beginner lessons are included with the equipment rental packages.  Other level lessons are available at a discounted rate, so bring cash to pay for those the morning we arrive.

 

Accommodations will be at the Comfort Inn Maggie Valley, only 10 minutes from the ski area.  Rooms have 2 queen beds, fridge & microwave, free high speed internet, indoor pool & spa, and free deluxe continental breakfast.  Rooms are double occupancy and roommates will be assigned unless otherwise requested by registration cutoff.

 

General Itinerary:

 

Friday:

6pm – Depart carpool

10pm – Arrive in Maggie Valley

(Dinner stop in East Ellijay, GA along the way)

 

Saturday:

7:30am – Depart hotel

8:30am – 4:30pm Ski/Ride

6:00pm – Group dinner/social at Guayabitos Mexican Restaurant (walking distance to the hotel!)

 

Sunday:

8:00am – Depart hotel

8:30am – 4:30pm Ski/ride

5:00pm – Depart for Atlanta

8:30pm – Arrive and Park & Ride

There is a minimum of 16 for this event to get these group rates. If 16 do not sign up, the trip will be canceled. Full refunds will be given to all that have paid if trip is cancelled.

Lodging and Lift only (own equipment): $222
Lodging, Lift, Ski Rental (free beginner lesson): $261
Lodging, Lift, Snowboard Rental (free beginner lesson): $277

We need payment as soon as possible in order to secure lift ticket and hotel reservations. If you don't pay within 48 hours of registering, you will be moved from the attending list to the waiting list.


**NOTE: beginners are welcome and encouraged to sign up!! We will be there to help you out every step along the way.

Payment may be made via PayPal, PC Banking or Check. It is your responsibility to get the deposit payment and/or balance payment in meet the due dates. Allow two days processing for PayPal and PC Banking and one week to mail a check.

A great attitude!
The key to skiing and riding in the Smokies is layers! Be prepared for every weather condition imaginable. A more detailed list will be emailed out to event participants, but use the snow event checklist as a place to start.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $144.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Important information for paid events in which payment is managed through the AOC:

     - Payment must be received by the payment due date and prior to participation in the event.

     - Some paid events require a minimum number of registered participants. If that number is not met, the event will be canceled and refunds will be issued to those who have already paid.

     - Third-party vendors often require damage deposits. Each registrant agrees to be liable for and required to reimburse the Atlanta Outdoor Club for any withheld deposits due to the actions of or damages caused by that registrant.

     - No partial payments. All registrants must pay the posted Member Cost regardless of any agreement you may have with any party involved in the event.

     - Read the event description carefully for additional information, and contact the trip leader(s) with any questions.

*Note:

If you cancel on or before December 17th, full payment is refundable less a $15 AOC administrative fee.

 

If you cancel after December 17th, there will be NO refund unless someone from the waitlist replaces you and pays in full.  At that time, you would receive refund less a $15 administrative fee.

 

Event is rain or shine however the trip leaders may cancel if extreme weather conditions are forecast.
