Itinerary:

There are two hikes with a late lunch/early dinner in between. They are both inside of Red Top Mountain State Park. The first is on the Iron Hill Trail and the second hike follows a loop that hits the three remaining trails in the park. You're welcome to sign up for one or both of the hikes and/or join us for the late lunch/early dinner in between.

A good portion of this hike follows the shores of Lake Allatoona, so there will be plenty of awesome scenery and many photo opportunities. Then there is an optional opportunity to stay and eat dinner together - actually more of a late lunch/early dinner. Details below:

Hike #1 will be on the Iron Hill Trail. It's a fairly flat 4 mile trail. This will leave from the Iron Hill Trail parking lot (not the Visitor's Center, but just down the street) and is the blue trail on the map below. The hike will leave from and return to the Iron Hill Trail Parking lot.

You can view a trail map here: http://www.redtopmountainstatepark.org/resources/red-top-mountain-state-park-trail-map.pdf

If you don't have a Georgia State Park Pass, there is a $5.00 per car fee but the pass is good for the entire day anywhere on the mountain. If you have not joined us for the first two hikes, you can purchase a pass at the Iron Hill Parking lot, just be sure to bring exact change because it is the honor system/envelope type. This pass is reusable for the hike later in the same day.

Please arrive a few minutes before the hike is scheduled to begin so you have enough time to pay for your parking and check in with us for introductions. We will depart on time.

Come join us for the optional late lunch/early dinner at Swheat from around 1:45 to 3:00. It's an 8 mile drive from the park. Feel free to join us for a late lunch/early dinner before the hike (or between hikes if you're staying for both). It's a little local place that has good reviews and serves sandwiches, soups and salads. Their food is fantastic and healthy. Each and every time we come here everyone loves the food. They have never failed to dazzle us.
