Itinerary:

Yellow River Park is a highly vegetated area located off Juhan Road in the city of Stone Mountain, GA - just southeast of the granite dome of Stone Mountain. The 566-acre park includes a 12-mile (19 km) trail (we'll be doing only 4 to 5) that can be used for walking, hiking, and horse riding. The park has pavilions, grills, and a large playground, as well as a wooden overlook that provides a view of the Yellow River.

This is a great hike for enjoying nature without the commitment of an entire day driving to a destination and back. The trails are well maintained, there are nice restroom facilities, and the park itself is beautiful.

This hike is a change from our past Yellow River hikes. I've convinced my faithful co-lead to join me on this event, so I'm eager to do some exploring on trails I haven't yet seen. I'm not sure what we'll encounter, but there is a good possibility for some hilly areas - - so this is NOT a good hike for beginners. We'll be moving at a brisk pace, and we'll be covering more distance than our hikes here in the past. The 6 miles distance is a guess; we may find that we're going farther. Be prepared!

Be advised that leash laws are strictly enforced if you bring your dog.

In 9.3 miles, Turn right onto E Park Pl Blvd

Continue straight onto Rockbridge Rd

Turn right onto Juhan Rd SW

Destination will be on the left
