This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Yellow River Park is, as the name would imply, a park along the Yellow River - just a little southeast of Stone Mountain Park. The 566-acre park has roughly 12 miles of trails - some hiking, some biking, some equestrian, and some mixed use.

We will be hiking approximately 6 miles of trail in the park at a pace on the quicker side of moderate.  We will hike a couple miles along the Yellow River, and then we will make our way to the other side of the park which has more elevation.  I have hiked part of the trails at this park, but not much of the trails on the "high" side, so I am listing it as exploratory.  We won't get lost... don't worry... just mentioning it, as the route should be considered "flexible".

The park has pavilions, restrooms, and a few wooden overlooks that offer nice views of the Yellow River.
