This is a 6 mile loop trail with wildlife viewing opportunities. If you’re planning on joining us for the backpacking trip on Nov 16 – this is a nice warm up.

Sunglasses, daypack for carrying items, camera, windbreaker or jacket if it’s chilly – this hike is in the mountains.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Habersham County, GA Please try to carpool as parking at the trailhead is very limited. Take I-85 North to 985. From I-985/Ga 365 take the Cornelia Exit and go to Cornelia. Take Georgia highway 123 north toward Taccoa for about to miles to the unincorporated town of Mount Airy. Turn onto the Lake Russell Road, which is also Forest Road 59, and go about 2.5 miles to the Nancy Town Lake and group camping sign. The parking area is at the Nancy Town Lake dam. The trailhead is at the campground on Nancy Town Creek at the head of the lake. The road to this area is gated and you must park at the dam and make the 0.3mile walk to the trailhead, which is in the parking area for the group camp.

Cost Includes:$2 parking fee for day use/ per car Required Items: Bring whatever lunch or snack you would like to eat on the trail. Bring plenty of water. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
