Itinerary:

We will start out at around 2,500 feet and climb to the summit of Rabun Bald (approx. 2.9 miles), which is the second tallest mountain in Georgia at 4,696 feet.

The trail ascends steeply and we will go at a moderate pace.
Around 1.5 miles into the hike the trail crosses a small stream, then it enters an area of boulders and comes out to a flat area where there are a few campsite areas.
The last .4 miles is very steep, ascending about 450 feet to the top. There is a viewing platform on top offering nice 360 degree views of North Carolina, Georgia and the surrounding mountains.

We will stop at the top for lunch and to take in the views of the surrounding area. Then we will head back down the trail.

This is a serious climb, but we will try to accommodate hikers of differing levels. You will need to consider if you are up for a 2500 ft. climb before signing up.

Due to limited parking we will need to keep it to as few vehicles as possible, so please plan on carpooling with the group.

Indian Trail to I-85 Northbound
Take I-985 North toward Gainesville (23 miles)
Continue on U-S23 North toward Clayton, GA (approx. 51 miles)
Turn Right onto RIckman Drive
Then another Right onto Warwoman Rd (approx 10 miles)
Turn Left onto State Route 7/Hale Ridge Road

Trail head will be on the left with minimal parking along the road.

The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.
