Itinerary:

Martin Luther King said "You don't have to see the whole staircase.  Just take the first step."  That's what we'll be doing on this holiday event to enjoy the river/creek/water views and trail leading to Sibley Pond from south entrance to the park (see directions and map).  Beginning trail runners are invited.  The majority of the event will likely be hiking but we will start at a slow jogging pace and anyone is free to make adjustments as we move along.  This is an out and back so don't worry about falling behind or moving ahead a little.  Once we get to Sibley Pond we may go down to Sope Creek to enjoy the view and then head back.

This is a light fitness event so the intention is to get the blood pumping and flowing and sustaining.  It is not a race so we can all stay together.  Still in hamstring recovery so I will likely only be jogging on some of the level or downhill sections.  There is a labrynth of trails between the Chatahoochee River and Sope Creek so I ask that we stay together to avoid getting lost.

Approximate duration of 2 1/2 hours, depending upon the group and whether we go to Sope Creek.  Expected pace is moderate for a trail run, or fast for a hike.  We will try for about a 10-12 minute pace when jogging and 20 minute mile when walking. For me, we likely will do a slow jog no more than half the distance, walk the rest - but will adjust slower depending on the group.

If it rains or has been raining prior to the event I may cancel because the trail gets really muddy.  Right now, the forecast is for 3 days to dry out before the event.
