Itinerary:

What about hiking and sightseeing in the Bavarian Alps in Germany?  This will be a “no-stress” trip, suitable also for beginner and intermediate hikers.

We will alternate D1, D2, and D3 hikes (and one slow paced D4) with sightseeing trips (by private bus) to visit castles, e.g. the Neuschwanstein Castle (the Disney Cinderella castle :). The palace was commissioned by King Ludwig II of Bavaria as a retreat and as homage to Richard Wagner.

We will visit the place of the famous Oberammergau Passion Play, Salzburg (think of “The Sound of Music”), and one of the most beautiful lakes in Germany, the Königssee, known as the cleanest lake in Germany. The lake's position surrounded by sheer rock walls creates an echo, which we will hear when the electric-powered boat stops and the skipper plays the trumpet.

Another highlight will be a day trip to Munich, by train, where we do a city tour in the morning (I’ll be your tour guide … have lived in Munich for many years) and in the afternoon we will be visiting and enjoying the Oktoberfest for a couple of hours.

Schedule:

NOTE: We will schedule several meetings to answer questions and organize ourselves.
