This is a trail running event on hilly terrain. We will walk a little bit around the dangerous bluffs portion (be very careful on this section. Hold your arms out just in case you slip, and yes, I have slipped here before).
We're going to do a Zig-Zag pattern where we take the right after the bridge, but then we take the first left (the 0.65 trail on the map), then take a right followed by the next right (the 0.40 trail) to the dam. After the dam, we'll circle back around the usual counter-clockwise route and take the Zig-Zag from the other side. Alternatively, we may decide to to the Eric Pierce Zig-Zag which involves taking a left where we would normally take the right to the dam, and then loop around clockwise to the dam.
|How to Get There:|
We well meet at the trail head parking area off of Dobbs Drive which is off of Oxbo Road. Turn onto Dobbs Drive off of Oxbo, then go up the hill. Soon you will come to a parking area on the right that has a few spaces for day users of the trail. Don't go all the way to the fields. The parking spaces are beside a building.
From GA 400: Get off at Holcomb Bridge Road GA 140 and head west towards Roswell. Take a left at the first redlight which is Dogwood Road (there is a Krystal there). Take a right at the first redlight which is Grimes Bridge Road. After crossing the bridge over Big Creek (aka Vickery Creek here) take a left at the redlight which is Oxbo Road. Take a right onto Dobbs Drive, head up the hill and look for the Pedestrian Bridge Parking sign on the right near the top of the hill. Turn right and park there. There is a sign at the turn that reads "Bridge and Trail Parking". In the parking lot there are 5 spaces with a sign saying "Reserved for Trail and Bridge Use".
From GA 9: Heading north in GA 9 (aka South Atlanta Street), pass GA 120 (aka Marietta Highway) then watch for Oxbo Road on the right at a Chevron station. Take a left onto Dobbs Drive, head up the hill and look for the Pedestrian Bridge Parking sign on the right near the top of the hill. Turn right and park there. There is a sign at the turn that reads "Bridge and Trail Parking". In the parking lot there are 5 spaces with a sign saying "Reserved for Trail and Bridge Use".
