Itinerary:

Vickery Creek is a beautiful section of the Chattahoochee National Recreation Area. We will hike around 5 miles of these trails at a moderately fast pace including visiting the old dam on Big Creek. This is a special hike for me, as my son, Damon, is visiting for a few days (from the Washington, DC area) and will be joining us for this event!  I'd love for you to meet him.

Because of the pace, this will not be a good hike for folks who are not in fairly good hiking shape.

NOTE:  We will be meeting at the Waller Extension area off of Oxbo Road - - and NOT at the oft-used CNRA entrance off Riverside Rd. or the Roswell Mill entrance.  This is a free parking area, so we don't have to worry about the parking fee at the official entrance.    Here are directions to our parking lot (copied from a write-up of Richard Zalik's):

Coming from downtown Atlanta drive north on GA 400 until Exit 6 (Northridge Road). Proceed West and cross the bridge over GA 400. After about 0.3 miles Northridge dead ends on Roswell Rd. Turn right and drive 1.5 miles to the Chattahoochee River. After crossing the river you will be on Atlanta Rd. Continue 1.3 miles on Atlanta Rd. and take a right on Oxbo Dr (NOTE:The street sign for Oxbo Dr. is not very visible from Atlanta St. There is a gas station at the corner. You must turn right before the station). After 0.6 miles you will reach Dobbs Road (there will be a sign on your left pointing to Waller Park Extension) turn left on Dobbs. After 0.3 miles you will see the parking lot on your right. Try to park in the spots designated for trail parking.

Please arrive at least 5 minutes before the scheduled hike time to check in. We will start the hike on time, so if you arrive late, we will already be on our way.
