Itinerary:

Here we are again!

Enjoy urban bike rides and beautiful scenery?  Like to sit and relax to evening outdoor music with friends? Then join us for an Urban Bike Adventure taking you through some of the scenic and historic portions of East Lake, Oakhurst and Kirkwood, followed by cool music as we enjoy Jazzfest at the Scottish Rite!

We'll be biking a pleasant 8.5 mile ride with several photo op locations along the way.  This route has been scouted several times and will keep us off the busy roads throughout our journey.   HOWEVER, there are a few steep hills on this ROAD ride so previous biking experience is necessary.   We'll be biking at a moderate pace, with several scheduled stops to allow the group to stay together.  Our starting and stopping point will be in front of the Oakhurst Church (next to the new Family Dollar).

Along the bike route, we'll be visiting a few neat locations near Agnes Scott College and downtown Kirkwood.  Afterwards, we reconvene at Oakhurst, stow our bikes, then proceed to enjoy Jazzfest on the Scottish Rite lawn in Oakhurst (this part is  OPTIONAL

Our pace will be determined by the group and our stops in between, but count on an easy pace of 10-12 MPH.

This bike ride has been rated a D2 as there are several steep hills, so it requires some intermediate levels of riding ability. All types of bikes are welcome.

I'd like to start PROMPTLY at 6:00 pm so please plan accordingly.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

PARKING:  They charge $5 to park in the large parking lot in front of the Oakhurst church, but STREET PARKING IS FREE.  I recommend arriving no later than 5:40 pm so you have time to prep your bike and make your way to the Oakhurst Church parking lot where we will be starting and ending the bike ride.

YOU are responsible for your bike maintenance or repairs on this ride (although we won't ever be too far from home base).

A lock for your bike is not necessary, but if you decide you'd like to attend Jazzfest, you might want to lock and secure your bike.
