Itinerary:

Bring your own boat, beg, borrow or rent one and come on out. Join me in enjoying a fun day paddling and picking up trash and whatever else we find on the bottom or the shore on Bull Sluice Lake from Azalea Park up and down both sides of the river and back. Along the way we will hug the shores and pick up trash as part of a huge clean-up event. We will meet at the park and paddle out and back from the ramp. Our AOC group will be helping along with other groups of volunteers that are going to be walking, wading and paddling all up and down the river. I call us the "AOC Water Wing"!!

To be on the official roster with Chattahoochee Riverkeeper you MUST sign up at http://www.ucriverkeeper.org/sweep-the-hooch.php

Fill in required info, then choose paddler, then List the AOC Water Wing as your group and click Azalea Park as your section to paddle. Finish the form and submit it.

The paddle itself is 3 miles out and back. It is all flat water on Bull Sluice Lake, which is a wide spot in the Chattahoochee just above Morgan Falls Dam and is suitable for all levels of experience. Along the way we will pass the side "bays" near the Chattahoochee Nature Center and will then be along the shores of the Gold Branch Unit where we can wave to the walkers and waders cleaning up on shore. We also pass by and under the beautiful rock Bluffs on the South side of the lake. We can visit the portage area and powerhouse at Morgan Falls Dam and Park before returning back up to Azalea Park if time permits.

Bring a bite to eat and plenty to drink during your time on the river.
All volunteers will receive a Sweep the Hooch water bottle!

Your event sign-up below will be in addition to the registration above. If you have any questions email me or call. I'll see you the morning of the 13th!

Upper Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, National Park Service and Trout Unlimited (TU) have joined together to organize a multi-site cleanup within the 48 miles of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area (CRNRA) . We will be tackling 11 Park Units and paddling 7 segments. It's National Park Week from April 13-20, 2013. All 392 national parks across the country (including the CRNRA) will have free admission during National Park Week.
