This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

I'm thrilled to post another Urban Hike on the Atlanta Beltline. This is a section that AOC hasn't done before. Elizabeth has taken this route and has helped me come up with the plan for the day and has graciously volunteered to help us stay on course. This is about a 6.5 mile route along the Beltline. It runs from West End (around Adair Park) all the way to Reynoldstown. If you've done both the Westside and Eastside Trails with me then this will connect the pieces for you and after this you will have completed about 3/4 of the Beltline.

Our plan is to meet/park at the Inman Park/Reynoldstown Marta station and hop on Marta and take it to the West End Station. From the West End Station, we'll follow this route: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike- path/South-Side-Beltline-Walk (given to us by a super cool Beltline enthusiast named Angel). We will walk along the Beltline for about 5 miles and then stop at a Coffee Shop named Drip (www.dripatl.com). We'll pop in and have a quick snack or cup of coffee (or both) and hang out for about 30 minutes. Then we'll continue from there the last couple of miles back to the Reynoldstown/Inman Park Marta Station.

Total hiking/walking distance is about 7 miles but as with any Exploratory event, please be prepared to walk a little longer if we veer off course. This is not a beginner's event. Please make sure you are able to keep a steady pace with us for about 7 miles. We are meeting inside of the Reynoldstown/Inman Park MARTA station at the machines where you purchase or reload your Breeze card. It is not hard to find and this is a small MARTA station. If you are not at the Marta Station and ready to go at 11:00am sharp then you will be left. Please allow yourself enough time to park at the MARTA station, come in and purchase a Breeze card (we'll help you with the purchase - no worries). Please arrive a few minutes early so you can purchase your fare and allow Elizabeth and I to go over a quick briefing of the hike. We will depart from the ticket machine area at 11:00am sharp. Details on the MARTA station are below in blue text and include directions on where to park at the station and how to get there.

Please be aware that we must stick together as a group. If you desire to do your own thing or leave before we return to the Inman Park/Reynoldstown MARTA station as a group, this is not the event for you.

MARTA and parking info:

You will need $3.50 for the trip on MARTA ($2.50 if you have a Breeze card you can reload) as well as money for Drip (if you want coffee/snack). Parking at the Reynoldstown/Inman Park MARTA station is free. Please familiarize yourself with the location and directions before you head out.

Address for Reynoldstown/Inman Park Marta station:

1055 Dekalb Ave  Atlanta, GA 30307

404.572.0004

Want to see a point on the map that puts you smack in the middle of the parking lot where you will park? Here ya go:

open maps.google.com and paste the bold text below in to the search bar:

33.75833, -84.35372

Then you can chose 'satelite view' and see a birds eye view.

** My time estimate is just that - an estimate. I do not expect to arrive back at the Reynoldstown/Inman Park Marta Station any later than 4:00. It should be much earlier than that - probably 3:15 or 3:30. **

Required Items to Bring:

comfortable, appropriate shoes (no flip flops or shoes without a backstrap)

money for MARTA and additional money for Drip (if you want anything there)

keep up with your Breeze card as you will need it to exit the MARTA station

something to keep yourself hydrated
