Itinerary:

The 5th AT segment takes us from Dicks Creek Gap to Deep Gap. Sixteen miles and around 5,300-feet of elevation gain.  As you'll read below, this is going to be a long day...

This segment takes us to the end of the Georgia Section of the AT near Bly Gap and finishes at Deep Gap, just below Standing Indian.  Many of you have gone to Standing Indian from the opposite direction and taken the Deep Gap trail back to the trailhead north of the metropolis that is Tate City.  This hike closes that gap. No pun intended.

This hike involves a long shuttle at the conclusion of our stroll through the woods.  It's going to take a good two hours.  There's no easy way to do this hike without it being an out and back.

A chariot will be waiting for us to take the drivers back to their vehicles only to then return and get the rest of us.  A true Festivus for the rest of us. We'll stop in Clayton for dinner at Mama G's or Universal Joint afterwards.

This is a strenuous D5.  We'll go at a moderate pace; however, please be objective regarding your hiking prowess prior to registering.
