Itinerary:

Now is your chance to see Lake Lanier at its full pool before it starts going back down.

We will start by hiking the Laurel Ridge Trail down to Buford Dam.  From there, we will continue on the Laurel Ridge Trail and make our way to a nice beach area on Lake Lanier.  After a quick break, it is a short distance back to our cars.  I expect to be done with the hike by 12:00 pm, at which time we will fire up the grills.

We will be using one of the picnic areas at the parking lot for the cookout.  I only ask that each person bring a side dish of their choosing.  I will provide the hotdogs and hamburgers as the main course.

From the north end of I-285, take GA 400 North to Exit 14 (GA 20 E/Buford Rd) toward Buford (stay right on the ramp).  Turn left at the second light (Sanders Rd).  At the next light, turn right onto Buford Dam Rd.  Follow Buford Dam Rd until you reach the Lower Overlook parking area.  It is the first entrance on the left AFTER crossing the dam.
