Note: This is an "EXPLORATORY" trip. This means that there are parts of this trip, or perhaps the whole trip, that is new to your Trip Leader(s). However, they are confident that this will not be an issue.
This note is here so that you can make an informed decision. When a Trip Leader isn't personally familiar with a trip, there is an increased chance of things not going as planned and you need to be prepared. The Trip Leader may have additional details in the itinerary.

Itinerary:

THe Pine Mountain Trail at FDR State Park is a beautiful flower and fauna filled hike that is mostly flat. Well, ok, not flat, but not that difficult of terrain either.  The trail winds through hardwood and pines, over creeks and past small waterfalls.  Let's see if we can get from one end to the other in less than 8 hours. Which means Armin or Tony will finish in less than 4. Haha!

LOGISTICS:

To do this shuttle hike without spending a lot of time hanging around a parking lot, we will have 2 to 3 people per carpool. This will raise the cost slightly, but well worth it.

We will first drive to the east end and leave half of the cars. Then pile in the other cars and drive to the west side (trail head) and leave half of the cars there as we start our hike. We will also leave a car in the middle, if possible, to resupply us with water and snacks.

After the hike, we will have dinner at a nice little restaurant overlooking the valley. Great southern food, nice view and good company. Excellent end to a long day hike.

This is exploratory because I have hiked parts of this park, but not the whole trail, start to finish.

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $54.00 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

If anyone wants to carpool from the north side of town, let me know and we can coordinate this.
