Itinerary:

Join me for a relaxing after work hike at Olde Rope Mill Park. This local gem is a mixed-use (hiking/biking/paddling) park with miles of well-maintained trails to explore. How many miles? I dunno. Lots. We’ll shoot for 2-3 miles.

We’ll meet in front of the big bridge at 6:25, sharp, so we can begin our hike immediately.

Our pace will be leisurely to moderate, and there are some minor elevation gains. If you are used to KM or Stone Mountain, this will be a snap for you. If you are used to flat terrain, this will get your blood pumping for sure!

Portions of this trip may turn into a treasure hunt of sorts, too, so there are likely to be periods of rest while we stare intently at the ground. Can you spot the morel in the image below?

It’s morel season in our area right now, and there are some places at this park that may harbor them.

Note, I haven’t found any there YET, but hoping to Tuesday evening. If you like photography, you may want to bring a camera. Morels make for interesting photo subjects as well as a gastronomical delight! In addition to that, there is a nice variety of wildflowers that also make for pretty pictures.

Be sure to bring your headlamp, just in case.

P.S.-I'm going to bring one of my dogs, and will allow up to 4 other well-behaved dogs on this event. Make sure your furry friend remains on lead and under your control at all times. NO RETRACTABLE LEASHES! You are responsible for cleaning up any messes your dog makes.
