Itinerary:

Bring your rain gear and join me for a fun (i.e. soggy) hike on the trails at Sweetwater Creek State Park!

We are going to start on the white trail, then hike to the red, the blue and then take a short break at the visitor's center.  We'll decide about doing the yellow when we are at the visitor's center. So we may modify this somewhat due to weather and trail conditions - but this is a planned 10 mile rainy day hike and I know the trails of Sweetwater very well.  Based on the weather forecast and the length of the hike, this is not a hike for beginners.

Note: there is a $5 per vehicle parking fee. No carpool for this event.

Required Items to Bring:

Appropriate Rain Gear: Waterproof shoes, rain jackets, etc...

A great attitude about hiking in soggy conditions!

Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.

A walking stick would be helpful, but I wouldn't bring a metal trekking pole along!

A change of shoes and socks is always highly recommended for rainy day hikes.

A waterproof camera

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

Take I-20 west to exit 44 (Thornton Road). Make a left on Thornton Road (South) and then a right onto Blairs Bridge Road. Travel 2.1 miles to Mount Vernon Road and make a left.
