Itinerary:

Please join us for this fun & enjoyable evening urban hike around Druid Hills Golf Club, followed by an optional climb to the top of Mount Everest! (via the IMAX movie, Everest)

We meet in front of the Fernpark Museum (767 Clifton Rd NE, Atlanta, GA … GPS coordinates: 33.774173 -84.328003) at 7:30 pm where we begin and end our 3.3 miles walk around the Druid Hills Golf Club.

The Druid Hills Golf Club is an enclave characterized by an abundance of stately oaks, magnificent maples, and wooded landscape that includes five linear parks designed by world famous landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted.  The club is prominently situated in the heart of this neighborhood and it resonates with a historical beauty reminiscent of yesteryear. The club was founded in 1912, and its history is intertwined with the history of Atlanta.

Optional Virtual Trip Description (Martinis & IMAX®):

Join the expedition team as they soar 29,028 feet to the top of Mt. Everest and celebrate the view from Earth’s highest peak in the most acclaimed large-format film ever produced, Everest.

As scores of thrill-seeking climbers face an uncertain future in a quest to reach the summit, this spectacular film documents the heroic rescue of imperiled climbers caught in a deadly May 1996 storm, which remains the mountain’s most infamous tragedy.

Everest takes audiences across creaking icefalls and gaping chasms, up dangerous, towering cliffs, through a harrowing rescue, and into the danger zone of oxygen-thin altitude. The 40-minute film also reveals how this tallest mountain was formed and continues to evolve, how high altitude challenges a climber's physical and mental capabilities, and how Sherpa culture permeates the Mount Everest experience.
