Itinerary:

This is an endurance fitness hike for intermediate to advanced hikers. The hike is approximately 12 miles round trip with an above average hiking speed and only a few rest breaks. We're going to start  near the back of the park store, and hike up the East Trail Ridge to the trailhead. From the trailhead, we will hike the AT Approach and return back via the Len Foote route. We should be back in Atlanta mid afternoon.

Note: The East Ridge Trail at Amicalola Falls is actually the first mile of a much longer trail, the Southern Terminus Approach Trail to the start of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia on Springer Mountain.  The East Ridge Trail climbs to the top of Amicalola Falls, rising an average of 80 feet for each 500 feet of trail.  It is one of a handful of trails considered strenuous simply because of the climb.

Please plan on bringing a small lunch and snack since we will be dropping by the Len Foote Inn for a quick 10-15 minute break.
