Itinerary:

How about an afternoon/evening hike at Amicalola Falls?  Beginning at the trailhead above the falls, we will hike the AT Approach trail for 4 miles. We will turn onto the Len Foote Trail and hike a mile to Len Foote Hike Inn, where we will stop for a break and to eat a snack/supper. NOTE: since we will arrive at the Hike Inn around the time they are serving dinner to the overnight guests, we may sit outside and eat, rather than occupying one of the tables in the dining hall.  We will return by completing the loop via the Len Foote trail.

The hike is just over 10 miles and has about 2300 feet of elevation gain. We will move at a moderate hiking speed with only a few rest breaks. Fast hikers are welcome, but they should wait for the rest of the group at the junctions. You have to be in shape to do this hike and the Trip Leader reserves the right to remove anyone from the list who they feel cannot handle it or without recent D4 hiking experience. If you aren't one of the faster hikers then you'll have to be able to keep up with the group.

Please plan on bringing a snack or light supper to eat while we're at the Hike Inn. The Inn will sometimes have some bread, cookies or fruit that you can take in exchange for tips for the Inn employees.  They may have iced tea, lemonade and other drinks. Please be sure to leave a tip if you do eat or drink, and again, we cannot count on there definitely being drinks or dessert for us this time.

There is a $5 parking fee paid at the gate when you come in to Amicalola State Park.

It's the first left you can make in the parking lot and you'll cross a bridge and then climb and follow the signs to the top of the falls to your right.
