Itinerary:

This is a good hike for those wishing to transition from D4 to D5 hikes. It will have the mileage, but most of the elevation gain will be concentrated in a couple places.

The hike begins with a tough 1/2 mile climb up the Kiddie Trail. Don't let the name fool you!

We will then enjoy 4 miles on the rolling tree covered Skyuka Trail. I've seen deer on this trail in the past. There may be water in the Skyuka Spring at the end of the trail. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't.

Now get your heart rates back up ascending 1 mile straight up to the Bluff Trail.

Once there, this will be a nice flat walk along the edge of the mountain with the valley on one side & rock faces on the other. There is a short but steep side trail up to Sunset Rock where we will stop to enjoy the view.

Next we climb back down to the Bluff Trail and then up to the top of the mountain at Point Park, which offers great views of the valley below, including The Tennessee River & Moccassin Bend.

We'll do a quick loop around the top & back down, down, down to our cars.

While there are nice views on this hike, we do plan to keep a good moderate (2.5-3mph) pace with few stops. Please make sure you are up to the challenge.
