Itinerary:

Let's meet for a relaxing walk around Murphy Candler Park. And because we love being out there, we will do it twice!

Murphy Candler Park is a 135-acre multi-use park located at 1551 West Nancy Creek Drive in northern DeKalb County. It was built in the 1950s and today includes multi-use fields, tennis courts, a swimming pool, a playground, picnic areas, a lake, and trails.

This is a perfect walk for the hiker who is just starting out or those that just enjoy an evening walk around the lake -  with some good company! Yes, it will be hot and we will sweat a bit, but we will take it easy. We will take several water breaks at strategic spots and re-group. The 2 mile trail around the lake is mostly shaded, except for the part crossing the dam, and has some rooty areas. For the most part, it is fairly flat with minimal elevation gain. However, there is one small stretch of uphill to conquer!  But, we can do it - and we can do it twice!

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

1551 W Nancy Creek Drive Northeast, Atlanta, GA

Take 1-285 to Ashford-Dunwoody Road, Exit 29. If you are traveling east on I-285, turn right at the first light. If you are traveling west on I-285, turn left at the first light.

Travel south on Ashford-Dunwoody Road for .9 miles and turn left on W. Nancy Creek Drive. This will be past the Montgomery School on your left but before you get to Marist School on your right.

Travel .6 miles to the entrance to the park after the lake...on your left.

We will meet at the small parking lot after crossing the dam when coming from Ashford-Dunwoody Road.  While this is the smallest of the parking lots at Murphy Candler, there is more parking across the road at the baseball fields or before crossing the dam.
