Itinerary:

Shake your midweek blues while joining us for a 21 mile ride along the Silver Comet Trail.  We will meet at the Floyd Road Trailhead (mile marker 4.2) in Mableton, Georgia, and set off for the Hiram Trailhead (mile marker 14.7) located where else, but Hiram, Georgia.  We plan to complete this ride by sunset, so a moderate pace of 10-12 miles per hour will be needed

Please be sure to check the condition of your bike prior to leaving for the event and perform any needed maintenance then.  You will be responsible for your own on trail bike maintenance, though your Trip Leaders and other riders may be willing to offer assistance or advice.  You will also be responsible for any maintenance resulting from any off trail experiences.  The latter we recommend that anyone not on a mountain bike seriously consider avoiding.

Helmets are required for this event and your Trip Leaders reserve the ability to remove you from the event if you don't bring one and wear one or if your bike is not ready for a ride of this nature.

Required Items to Bring:
  • Bike in well maintained condition (can't ride without a ride);
  • Helmet; and,
  • Water or Sports Drink of your choice (you won't want ours).
Recommended Items to Bring:
Use our Event Checklists to make sure you have everything you need.
  • Small snack or energy bar
  • Bike Tools, Spare Tubes, Air Pump, etc.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:

The Floyd Road Trailhead is at mile marker 4.2 on the Silver Comet Trail.

From I-285:

Take I-285 to Exit 15, South Cobb Drive.

SOUTH COBB DRIVE is Hwy 280/Smyrna.

When you approach South Cobb Drive, HEAD OUTSIDE THE PERIMETER, away from the large smoke stack that's being torn down and toward the Cobb Civic Center, Chattahoochee Tech, and SR 280-North.

Go approximately 1.4 MILES, or 4 stop lights, to the large intersection of SOUTH COBB DRIVE, the EAST-WEST CONNECTOR, and CUMBERLAND PARKWAY.

TURN LEFT onto the East-West Connector.

Go approximately 5.5 MILES to the stop light at FLOYD ROAD (you'll pass under 3 bridges; Floyd Road is the 4th light past the 3rd bridge).

TURN RIGHT onto Floyd Road (toward the WalMart shopping center).

Go approximately 0.7 miles and you'll cross the Silver Comet Trail (there is a stop light here).

Once you pass through the stop light at the SILVER COMET TRAIL, you'll see the Floyd Road Trailhead parking, Silver Comet Depot, and a convenience store immediately on your right.

We'll include an approximate meeting place in the reminder email.

Notes:
