Itinerary:

We will leave the carpool at Mansell Rd. promptly at 9 AM. We should arrive at the trail head at Dockery Lake by 10:15 and be underway by 10:25. Dockery Lake Trail is one of the prettiest approach trails to the AT. After 3.4 miles it intersects the AT at Miller Gap where we will hang a left and go a little over a mile to Preaching Rock. We''ll eat lunch, rest and take photos of the great views from the Rock. We'll continue on to Woody Gap, then retrace our path back to the cars. A few years ago when I was hiking the Dockery Lake Trail I saw a beautiful Gray Wolf. Too bad Angela wasn't along. Wolves are very shy so we need to have a quiet hike if we hope to see one. We will go at a moderate pace (2 - 2.5) so that we can enjoy the beauty of the hike.
