Itinerary:

We haven't had many morning hikes lately with the rain being such a close companion. Let's give Wednesday morning a try. We'll shake the creaks out of those legs with a brisk hike through Vickery and look with awe at what the rains have done for the water flow at the dam. Though this isn't a fitness hike, the pace will be on the faster side of moderate, so this is not a hike for beginners who have no trail experience. Vickery Creek has a lot of elevation change, which would make it too challenging for novices. If you can handle hills at a moderately fast speed, come give it a try.

Susan F. will be along as a trail guide for the hike, so we won't end up at the pipe and we'll finish on time. :-)

We will start on time (10 am)! Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to check in and do intros. There is a bathroom at this location, so allow an extra 5 minutes to use the facility before we start.

We are meeting at the Roswell Mill entrance to the Vickery Creek trailhead, just off S. Atlanta Road in Roswell. There is no parking fee at this location. Detailed directions are below.

Three people with dogs will be our limit for this hike. Please do not bring your dog if three people with dogs have already registered. Dogs must be kept on leash during the hike. Dogs running loose present obstacles for hikers on this hilly, uneven terrain.

Fluids, good hiking shoes/boots

Roswell Mill is at 120 and S. Atlanta Road in Roswell. Use either the physical address below or the lat/lon coordinates to get your own directions. We are meeting behind all of the shops at the Roswell Mill Center. Just keep driving down the road till you get to the big parking lot at the very bottom of the long hill.

Roswell Mill is where Hwy 9 (S. Atlanta St) and Hwy 120 (Marietta Hwy) intersect. There's a popular restaurant called Chaplin's in that shopping center. When you turn in to the shopping center (from either direction or from Hwy 120)) you will be on Mill St. Stay on Mill Street (it winds around), all the way down to the bottom of the hill.
