Itinerary:

The plan for this trip will be to start from Amicalola State park and hike to the Springer Mountain shelter for the night and return back to Amicalola the following day. It is important to note that this is not a beginner event with approximately 18 miles and a good bit of elevation change we will be moving at moderately pace of 2-2.5 miles per hour. If you have not completed any D5 or above events over the past 2-3 months with the club I will contact you about your past experience to ensure you are ready for this event. 

This is a Rain or Shine event however if strong storms are forecast the event may be canceled.

While we will be staying around the shelter and you are free to stay in the shelter if it is not full please bring a tent/tarp/hammock in the event the shelter is full.


Required Items to Bring:

Backpack

Tent  / Tarp / Hammock (Along with the knowledge to use it)

Sleeping Bag / Pad

1 Dinner, 2 Lunches, 1 Breakfast, and Plenty of Snacks

At least 2 Liters of Water 

Water Filter

Carpool Cost: Estimated cost per vehicle for this event is $45.60 using a reimbursement rate guideline of $0.400 per mile. The total amount should be divided by the number of people in the vehicle, including the driver. This is a guideline, not a rule, for drivers but the cost should not be higher unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Notes:

There is a parking fee of $5 for the state park for those meeting at the event and the carpool vehicles unless you have a state park pass.
