Itinerary:

Let's hike the Island Ford unit of the CRNRA, this time the lollipop loop and a few other trails. This will be a moderately paced, rain or shine hike. We will stop ocassionally for a water break and to catch our breaths.

We will meet at the first parking lot NOT at the visitor center. There won't be any restrooms since the park office closes at 5 pm. You will need $3 cash for a daily pass if you do not have an annual pass. 

We will begin promptly at 5.30, so please arrive a few minutes early to pay for your pass and to check in. 


Required Items to Bring:

Appropriate clothing for the weather

3$ cash or annual park pass

Good hiking shoes

A flash light since it is starting to get dark sooner

Recommended Items to Bring:

How to Get There:

As described before we will meet at the very first parking lot NOT at the visitor center. 

From northbound US 19 and GA 400

  • Take exit #6 (Northridge Road).
  • Coming off the exit, stay in the right lane, cross over GA 400, and turn right onto Dunwoody Place. 
  • Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
  • Go 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right.
  • Go 0.2 miles to the first parking area on your left (not at the visitor center).

From southbound US 19 and GA 400

  • Take exit #6 (Northridge Road)
  • Continue straight ahead at the traffic light onto Dunwoody Place.
  • Go 0.5 miles to Roberts Drive.
  • Go 0.7 miles to the park entrance on your right
  • Go 0.2 miles to the first parking area (not at the visitor center).
